Join us for the re-launch of KOFP Radio 'The Voice' Saturday, June 8 as we celebrate Black Music Month and local artists

The community is invited to free event celebrating the re-launch of KOFP Radio "The Voice," the Black Music Month & Community Love Block Party Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Vision View campus, Jericho field.


Showcasing two stages featuring emcees, Ken Mccoy and Feather Da-Wyz, KOFP Radio will highlight its local musicians and bands: emerging band, JPEG Sessions, a local jazz-infused R&B group made up of four Fresno State students and graduates; gospel legend, David Haynes; legendary musical artists Bobby Brown, Bobby Logan, Charles “Al Turner,” Baby Bee and Ed Burke and the headliner group is Jamillah Oliver’s BreakBox Thought Collective.


The event will also feature its first KOFP Radio award honorees: The Woody Miller Community & Broadcast Award will go to honor retired Fresno State professor, Dr. Robert Mikell [90.7 KFSR]; the KOFP Radio Community Gospel Award will go to Fresno church community singer, David Haynes; The Patrick Okoegwale “Innovative Award” will go to Edison High School innovative educator, Chris Finley. 


 Attendees will also learn more about the national and local histories of Black music. 


The event will also be filmed and rebroadcasted locally in the Central Valley through KOFP Radio media partner, The ONME Network and its broadcast sponsor PG & E.  The event is also rebroadcast live on the KOFP Radio network throughout the year.
